"Absolutely love this class!!! Brooke has an inmate knowledge of herbalism being raised in an herbal family. Brooke also has a background in education. These factors combined create a class where a vast amount of information is well organized and easily digestible. I have learned so much and it has truly impacted the way I interact with nature, food, health, and even weeds! To see the natural world around you for its medicinal and healing properties is powerful and humbling. Brooke is an excellent teacher, wise and compassionate. I will definitely be taking more classes with Brooke!"

"I was hesitant about taking this course at first because of my fear of failure. This seemed quite daunting and if I couldn't keep up I would have wasted time and money. Over the time spent in class I'm happy and proud to say that not only did I meet some fantastic women, but I am learning and am still learning ways and methods of using herbs to soothe, cleanse, and mend the body, mind and spirit. I highly recommend taking any class with Brooke. She is a great teacher with such a joyful, passionate filled spirit."

"This program was absolutely amazing. I started the course feeling overwhelmed and totally clueless when it came to herbs. I liked lavender and knew that dandelions were actually helpful weeds, but that was about it. Brooke teaches with ALL of the senses, so the information is absorbed through touching, tasting and smelling the herbs, discussing and creating our own materia medical (herbal book of knowledge and reference), amazing projects and plant walks. Plant medicine is so much more than testing and learning and studying herbs. It's about FEELING the herbs, creating with them, and getting to know them. Brooke brings all of this to life in a way that is easy to understand and exciting. I look forward to my monthly class, and I actually love my homework. As if all THAT isn't enough, over the last ten months, I have met a group of amazing women I am know lucky enough to call friends.
Can't wait for level two!" ~Dawn G. |
"I am finishing up level one and looking forward to level two staring in April. I learned a lot about herbs as well as myself. Brooke made the classroom interactive and comfortable for learning. She is open to questions and respects students knowledge and experience. It was a great introduction to herbs, uses and precautions. It has given me new insight into ways to help my patients as a nurse as well as myself and family."

"I by chance came across Brooke’s website and said to myself, OMG! This is so me!” Now I didn’t know Brooke personally and for those of you who know me I don’t often step outside my comfort zone unless I have someone there with me. After looking at her site, I saw a one night (I think it was a 4 hour class) on how to make Immunity cider. And guess what? I signed up!! I stepped out of my shell and did it. It was a small group and it was during some snow storm, so I knew that it was meant to be. But the moment I met her, it was an instant connection. Her energy, her excitement for teaching had me hooked. At the end of that class (fingers stinking of garlic & onions) I had signed up for a 10 month commitment! (With people I didn’t know!!What was I thinking?! But this turned out to be one of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made!!! Not only have I learned knowledge of plants/herbs growing right around me (and how to use them) I have made some wonderful and beautiful friends!!! Each and every one of these women brought a unique and personal side of themselves to class that I felt honored to be a part of. We are a community of women, of sisters, we are bringing back the sense of that together we can change the world. We are a force to be reckoned with!"

"I highly recommend taking Brooke Kelly’s Herbalism: Finding Your Roots level one program! Brooke has beautifully designed this course so that each month focuses on a single system of the body, its corresponding herbs, and a hands-on project related to the system. She is a highly organized and well-prepared teacher. Each of her classes is well thought out and structured in a way that makes learning fun! Brooke always makes sure to explain things in a way that is clear and easy to understand, and she is also willing to make accommodations for students to best suit their learning needs.
Throughout this course I learned so much about herbalism! Not only did we learn about anatomy and botany, but we were also provided with hands-on opportunities for learning about individual herbs that support each system of the body. We were able to see, smell, touch, and taste each of the herbs that we learned about both in its raw and infused form. We also went on plant walks so that we could learn to identify local herbs in the wild. One of my favorite parts of this course were the hands-on projects. In class, we learned how to create flower essences, infused oils, scrubs, and tinctures. We also learned how to blend teas, infuse honey, create immunity cider, and make salves. Having this practice in class made me feel much more confident about doing each of these projects at home. I’m also really proud of the materia medica (personal collection of herbal knowledge) that I created throughout this course. It was a lot of hard work, but it was broken into manageable chunks, and now I have a beautiful book full of information about the eighty herbs that I studied in this program that I know I will use for many years to come. Over the course of the year, I also made wonderful friendships with the supportive community of women enrolled in the classes. Having a private Facebook forum for our group allowed us to connect, share ideas, ask questions, and support one another in our learning throughout our studies. So if you’re someone who is interested in learning about herbs in a structured, supportive, and hands-on environment with a dedicated and caring teacher, I strongly suggest enrolling in Brooke’s herbalism program!" ~Kyra G. |
