Holistic or Alternative healing may be a term you are familiar with. You may have also heard words like Reiki, Shaman, Shambala, Empathic, Crystal healing or therapy. The variety of names are endless; however energy is always energy regardless of how it is titled. The word alternative is commonly used because these forms of healing are alternatives or wonderful accompanies to modern medical practices, yet should never replace modern medicine. Now that alternative/holistic healing is becoming more and more accepted among the medical fields, many hospitals and hospice agencies are using these modalities to improve the lives of others. With that said if you receive or practice a type of healing modality that does not suit you, be willing to try other practitioners and modalities. Every practice is unique to each practitioner. What makes REIKI unique is that the energy a practitioner uses comes from the universe rather than the practitioner using their own life force energy. This allows the reiki practitioner to give abundantly and infinitely without ever becoming depleted of his or her own life force energy.
Energy is everywhere and in everything. To be scientific, everything is made of atoms (energy). When atoms vibrate at a slow speed they create forms such as crystals, trees, animals, people, etc. The faster the atoms vibrate, the less visible a body or object becomes to the human eye. The energy fields within a person’s body known as chakras and around a person’s body known as an Aura are invisible to the human eye due to this reason.
For example of how this energy around you is still connected to you although there is nothing to see, think of this: When sitting in a noisy room with your back toward the door, a person walks into the room. Although you do not hear them enter, you feel them come into the room. The person’s energy field touches your energy field and you react instinctively. Understanding this simple concept allows you to comprehend how one person can connect with another person’s energy to heal, rejuvenate, and balance.
Many healing techniques like Reiki are non-invasive and use the lying of hands to transfer healing from universal energy, through the practitioner and into the client. Everything: person, plant, or animal is made of energy. Alternative healing works with the energy systems within the recipient to relax, heal ailments, pains, or problems s/he may be facing of the mind, body, and soul.
The healing practitioner does not need to know what the recipient is receiving healing for. Healing energy will flow naturally to the area in need. With this said, a person may come seeking relief from a toothache and the practitioner may lay their hands on their face, but if another part of the body is in a stronger need for healing, the energy will flow there first. The client may feel the energy elsewhere from where the hands of the practitioner are. Or, the client may feel a variety of sensations coming from the practitioner’s hands like heat, coolness, tingling, etc.
There is no such thing as too much alternative healing. Holistic practices are a natural detoxifier for the mind, body, and soul. It can help quiet the mind for meditation or relieve tension and stress. Healing restores energy and opens the recipient and the practitioner to their higher self. Most importantly, alternative healing can and has achieved miracles such as eliminating cancers, saving lives, healing traumas, and much more.
